Waste Collection in the Winter
During the winter months, waste collection may be interrupted due to inclement weather, icy road conditions, etc.
THE SOLUTION IS CLEAR!
Starting October 1, 2010, we are enforcing our new "Clear Bag for Garbage" program and our new bag limit. Please know that each household can still put ONE BLACK GARBAGE BAG out for collection. Any garbage bags over and above ONE BLACK BAG must be clear (with no colour). Also, our sorting and recycling program is UNCHANGED.
Please continue to separate your garbage like you always have. Continue to use blue bags for recyclables if you like. Continue to put your paper in a grocery bag if that's what you are used to doing. Continue to compost as usual.
The new bag limits are 6 GARBAGE, 10 RECYCLABLE BAGS, 1 COMPOST CART.
If you have some difficulty sorting your garbage or have any questions about using clear bags, please contact us by calling 275-2330 or 275-5321.

Space Age Technology at Kaizer Meadow
Space-age technology is being used to improve environmental efficiency at the Kaizer Meadow Environmental Management Centre landfill site.
With the installation of a GPS unit onboard a waste compactor, what was once an ordinary piece of landfill equipment has been transformed into a computer-aided earth -moving system. “Using GPS technology to improve environmental efficiency in this way is a Canadian first,” says David Daniels, manager of the Kaizer Meadow Environmental Management Centre.
Innovation at Kaizer Meadow
One quarter of an inch.
That’s all the landfill cover it takes Kaizer Meadow to protect the environment on and around the site.
In the last year, the Kaizer Meadow Environmental Management Centre has made significant improvements to an already stellar track record in cutting edge environmental practices. Its most recent investment – an Alternate Daily Cover Machine – ensures that all garbage is covered at the end of the day so nothing escapes the landfill site.
